Critique May Be the Missing Piece of Your Design Process with Guest Joey Ruse

Season 3, Chapter 5

This week, we hear from Joey Ruse about his journey and how it led him to co-found his unique platform—Creative Critique.

If you’ve never heard of Creative Critique before, it’s a website built specifically for creatives to upload their content and get constructive feedback from other creatives on their work. But what value can critiques from other creatives hold, rather than getting feedback from your clients?

Well, due to the nature of the website and the fact this over 150 college professors consult through it, creatives are able to get more targeted and tactical insight from those who know what it is they should be looking for in the first place. Most of the time, clients can tell you if they like something or not, but they can’t necessarily tell you why. That’s where this platform comes into play.

Coming to this platform allows you to ask the right questions to find the answers you need to succeed.

  • What is your overall design concept?
  • What’s your execution strategy?
  • Who is your client?
  • Who is your client’s target audience?

It also allows teams who are collaborating together to see real time changes, give instruction and feedback on changes, and finalize edits.

Joey finds this platform especially beneficial because providing critique is not only helpful to the person receiving the critique, but also helpful to the person providing their critique. They can remind themselves of what they already know.

So if you haven’t checked out their platform, be sure to head over and take a look!

ABOUT ME

Since I was a little girl, I’ve had the ability to see inspiration in unusual things. As I grew into my career, I learned how to harness that ability and combine it with strategy to develop The Strategic Process™ for designers who want to strengthen their creative confidence so they can present design work that gets approved the first time. I can’t wait to talk with you about how you can be empowered with the tools you need to level up your design game.
